What's the Rights End Date?
By Zil Distribution
The Rights End Date defines how long your music will remain on the digital platforms through your distributor.
What It Means
When you distribute music through Zil Distribution, the Rights End Date is the date until which we have the authorization to keep your music live on platforms.
How It Works
- Open-ended: Some agreements have no end date, meaning your music stays up indefinitely until you request removal
- Fixed term: Other agreements set a specific duration (1 year, 2 years, etc.)
- Renewal: At the end of the term, the agreement may automatically renew
Important Considerations
- Plan ahead: If your rights agreement is expiring, renew it before the end date to avoid your music being taken down
- Catalog transfers: If switching distributors, coordinate timing to avoid gaps
- Licensing: Ensure your rights agreement covers all territories where you want your music available
- Multi-artist releases: All contributors must have valid rights through the end date
At Zil Distribution
We work to make rights management as transparent as possible. You can check the status of your rights agreements at any time through your dashboard.
